“We respond to the great commission by proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ in word and deed” (Mt 28: 18-20 and John 10:10)
The community development work of the diocese encompasses the activities of three departments:
- Development,
- Youth, and
- Mother’s Union.
Development
The DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT coordinates the planning and execution of programs that create opportunity; empowering people and communities to build capacity and become agents of change.
Our goal is to do development work in a way that proclaims the love of Christ. We seek to create a culture of service, to pursue justice, and to enable all people to experience the fullness of life characterized by freedom, love and hope.

Youth
The YOUTH DEPARTMENT works to coordinate activities that empower and educate youth so that they become strong Christian leaders, and have the necessary tools for economic sustainability.

Mothers Union
The MOTHER’S UNION OF MOROGORO is a chapter of the larger Anglican Church’s Mother’s Union. In Swahili we call it UMAKI. The Umaki women work to empower and equip women with economic, spiritual, and relational skills, thereby developing strong Christian mothers and leaders.
Mother’s Union Director: Mrs. Josephine Semwenda
Church Planting
The Church Planting arm of the diocese is primarily the work of the MISSION, EVANGELISM AND LITERATURE DEPARTMENT (MELD). The MELD Department coordinates the spread the gospel through seminars, open air meetings, missions, church planting, and distributing christian literature.
